We sang several songs

And walked the lawns,

Traded tales that left us both

Joyful and forlorn.

From your voice

A cypress tree grew

Tall and strong 

With promises new.

And in my step

Freedoms bounce returned

Underfoot

Chamomile lawns, undisturbed.

And in our wake did flow

Tears of joy and loss 

A trail of sweet flower heads

Peeping through the moss

As together you and me

We drank Chamomile tea

That sprung from our new garden

Within the potted bay tree.

Even the stars don’t shine

When this heart of mine

Is simply holding time

Holding back the years

Feeling all my fears

Brings you closer - somehow

I find myself in the heart of the forest

Searching through the leaves of the trees

I find myself in the heart of the darkness

Searching through all that I believe

And I believe it’s you I see

Walking down the roads all laid out before me

The future isn’t clear to see

But I know my footprints are always falling

Exactly where they are meant to be
